Don’t miss the opportunity to tour the beautiful campus of The College of William and Mary (founded in 1693), which is considered one of the best small public universities in the United States. It is also the second oldest college in the country after Harvard. Four U.S. presidents attended William & Mary: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe and John Tyler.
A public, four-year university, The College of William & Mary has been ranked as the best small public university in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. The College of William and Mary also boasts the Sir Christopher Wren Building, the nation's oldest academic building in continuous use. In addition, Phi Beta Kappa and the first collegiate law school were both established here in 1776 and 1779, respectively. William & Mary is also home to the Muscarelle Museum of Art, which features approximately 3,600 paintings, sculptures and works on paper.
