Opened in 1985, The Dewitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum contains 12 galleries of exhibits, including the world's largest collection of Virginia furniture, one of the world's largest collections of American and British furniture, and the largest collection of English pottery outside of England.
Exhibits at the Dewitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum include "Captured Colors: Four Battle Flags of the American Revolution"; "A Chid's-Eye View"; "American Furniture: Virginia to Vermont"; Pounds, Pence and Pistareens: Coins and Currency of Colonial America"; "Masterworks from the Colonial Williamsburg Collection"; "Revolution in Taste"; "Lock, Stock and Barrel: Early Firearms from the Colonial Williamsburg Collection"; "Artistry and Ingenuity: Historic Kitchen Implements"; "The Murray Sisters: A Closer Look at the Conservation Process"; and "Treasure Quest: Great Silver Collections."
The Dewitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum also features an excellent collection of Colonial-era paintings, prints, silver, textiles and ceramics. After viewing the fascinating exhibits, grab a bite to eat at the Wallace Gallery Cafe or browse through the Museum Store. The Cafe is open for lunch and serves sandwiches, soups and tasty desserts.
