The Colonial Parkway

Completed in 1957 and administered by the National Park Service, the scenic, 23-mile Colonial Parkway connects Virginia’s Historic Triangle, which encompasses Jamestown Settlement, site of the first permanent English-speaking colony in North America; Colonial Williamsburg, the restored 18 th-century capital of colonial Virginia; and Yorktown, site of the last major battle of the American Revolution in the fall of 1781. Enjoy breathtaking views of the James and York rivers as you travel to each of the three fascinating historic sites along The Colonial Parkway, which lies within 9,000-acre Colonial National Historical Park. Note: The maximum speed limit on the Colonial Parkway is 45 miles per hour.
