The 2,550-acre York River State Park is located just 11 miles West of Williamsburg and offers abundant recreational opportunities such as fishing (license required), boating, hiking, biking, horseback riding and picnicking. The park's visitor center contains nature exhibits, a resource library, gift shop and vending machines. Paddleboats, jonboats, kayaks and canoes are available for rent on a seasonal basis. In addition, a variety of scheduled activities take place at York River State Park, including canoe and kayak trips, nature hikes, wildlife observations, fishing clinics, hay rides, workshops, children's programs and more.
