The 1899, Queen Anne-style Newsome House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, contains a treasure trove of information on African American history and culture. The museum hosts special exhibits that highlight the talents of African American artists, as well as seasonal events. Admission is free. Guided tours are available upon request. Seasonal hours; call ahead before visiting.
