Sherwood Forest Plantation


A National Historic Landmark, Sherwood Forest Plantation served as the home of John Tyler, the 10th president of the United States, from 1842 to 1862. Built around 1720, the 300-foot-long residence is considered to be the longest frame house in the country. Sherwood Forest Plantation is still owned by descendants of Tyler. Tour the beautiful grounds of the Sherwood Forest Plantation, which is located on State Route 5 (known as the John Tyler Memorial Highway), just 30 minutes West of Williamsburg. Note: Tours of the house itself can be arranged by appointment for groups of 10 people or more. The grounds of Sherwood Forest Plantation are open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.
